Essential Vitamins for Body

15 vitamins are found to be essential for our body. These are either fat soluble or water soluble. They are also energy releasing compounds and has significant hematopoietic function and some of them acts as co-enzymes. Our body has no process for synthesizing vitamins. However there is a bacteria in our gut which is responsible for the synthesis of vitamins, But that region of colon has poor absorption. Some animals are known to eat their own vitamins rich feces e.g rats and deer.

The bacteria that is present in colon region of human is considered to synthesis vitamin K and also biotin. These are sufficient and enough to meet our body requirements. But we are exposed to antibiotics. Antibiotics degrade that bacteria in our colon. Moreover there is poor absorption of vitamin B-complex from there. So its necessary for us to take vitamins in the form of tablets food and vegetables rich in vitamins.

Fat soluble Vitamins
Vitamins A, D , E and K are found to be soluble in fats only. They are found in fat diet. They are not soluble in water so its excretion is not that rapid. It gets accumulated in our body in our fat cells and in our liver. Their excess accumulation has pernicious effects on our health.

Water soluble Vitamins
Their accumulation is less notorious to health as they are water soluble and readily excreted. They are not amassed in our body in large amounts except vitamin B12.

Advantages
They are involved in vast biochemical functions. They role is hematopoietic also (formation of blood). They are involved to make our vision by means of Rhodopsin cycle. They provide health maintenance and are anti aging or anti oxidants. They regulate protein synthesis in our body. They minimize the contingency of heart failure and cancer. They maintain healthy epithelial cells. They maintain healthy mucus secretion and provide a perfect immunological defense by maintenance of proper immune system. Increased the strength of our bones and teeth by forming calcium phosphate. They prevents sertility also. They form collagen, form bones, regulate protein synthesis, have preventive action on chronic diseases and enhances hemoglobin and iron metabolism. They protect a person against anemia. Its deficiency may cause megaloblastic anemia and many more like dermatitis, night blindness, glossitis, anxiety, depression, dimentia, nervousness, diarrhea, malaise, dry beri-beri and scurvy.

Adverse effects of excess vitamin intake
Expletive intake of vitamin is also toxic for health. We have to check our balance for vitamins intake. We may get exposed to the following adverse effects.

Hypervitaminosis A includes skeletal deformation, liver enlargement, skin disease like dermatitis, alopecia and weight reduction.

Hypervitaminosis D includes resorption of bones, calcium accumulation in kidneys and formation of kidney stones.

Hypervitaminosis K is responsible for hemolytic anemia and jaundice due to excess RBC breakdown
